Silver Bank is a designated marine sanctuary and wintering haven for the North Atlantic humpback whale population, where thousands gather to court, mate, calve, and raise their young from January through April.

Expect long, memorable time on the water, with opportunities to hear whale songs and witness their behavior at close range. Water temperature is typically 78–80F (26–27C).

This trip is snorkel only, built around in-water whale encounters and above-water observation. All charters depart from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, and the itinerary focuses on tender runs that bring guests closer to whale activity throughout the day.

Sample Itinerary

  • This is a sample schedule to show the general flow of the week. Timing is weather dependent.

  • Saturday

    Boarding at 4:00 p.m. Departure at 9:30 p.m. to Silver Bank.

  • Sunday

    Arrival around 8:30–10:30 a.m. (weather permitting). Brunch/late breakfast while the crew prepares the mooring and tenders. First tender runs begin at 2:00 p.m. (two tenders running). Afternoon tenders return at approximately 5:00 p.m.

  • Monday - Thursday

    Tender runs commence after breakfast at 8:30 a.m., with whale runs throughout the day. “Sundowner” cocktail parties are hosted on the sun deck each afternoon following whale runs. Nightly presentations and videos take place after dinner.

  • Friday

    Return to Ocean World Marina in Puerto Plata late Friday afternoon. Dinner is not served onboard Friday night; the crew will recommend a restaurant in the marina.

  • Saturday

    Check out between 7:00–8:00 a.m.
